Amazing food, the venison caserole, the sticky toffee puding and the drinks were perfect. The staff were the best and very kind. If you go in christmas season you can find "Maple hot toddy", great hot drink to warm your evening.
Overview
Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh, Scotts Kitchen offers a cozy, inviting atmosphere where you can enjoy a range of delicious meals. Located at 4-6 Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2JL, United Kingdom, this restaurant stands out not just for its food but for its approach to combining local flavors with contemporary cooking techniques. Whether you're a local or visiting the city, Scotts Kitchen is a must-try spot for anyone looking to experience great food in a welcoming setting.
The menu at Scotts Kitchen is a testament to the versatility and creativity of the chefs behind the dishes. From traditional Scottish fare to modern twists on classic dishes, there's something for everyone. What sets this restaurant apart is the focus on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. For example, their seafood is brought in daily from Edinburgh's bustling fish markets, ensuring that every dish is as fresh as it gets. One of the standout items on the menu is the pan-seared scallops, served with a delicate pea purée and a touch of lemon. The balance of flavors here is simply perfect.
A personal favorite of mine at Scotts Kitchen is their haggis with neeps and tatties. While haggis can sometimes be intimidating for newcomers, Scotts Kitchen's take on this Scottish classic is surprisingly approachable. The rich, savory flavors of the haggis are complemented beautifully by the smooth mashed potatoes and turnip, making it a comforting and satisfying dish. For those who aren't familiar with haggis, this is a great introduction to one of Scotland's signature dishes.
The ambiance at Scotts Kitchen is equally as appealing as the food. With its warm, rustic décor, it's the kind of place where you can easily relax and enjoy a meal with friends or family. The intimate setting makes it perfect for date nights or small gatherings, but it's also a great spot to grab a quick lunch if you're exploring the city.
When it comes to drinks, the restaurant offers a carefully curated selection of wines, craft beers, and cocktails that perfectly complement the menu. If you're a fan of wine, their house selection is worth exploring, with options that pair wonderfully with their seafood and meat dishes. For those in the mood for something a bit more refreshing, their signature cocktails are a great way to unwind and enjoy the atmosphere.
In terms of customer service, Scotts Kitchen truly excels. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to offer recommendations if you're unsure about what to order. During my visit, the team made sure I was well taken care of, offering insight into the day's specials and making sure that everything was just right.
What really gives Scotts Kitchen an edge over other dining options in Edinburgh is its dedication to quality. Not only do they pride themselves on using fresh, local ingredients, but they also take the time to make sure each dish is prepared with care and attention to detail. Whether you're in the mood for a light lunch or a hearty dinner, you can count on Scotts Kitchen to deliver.
The restaurant's location also plays a big part in its charm. Situated just a short walk from Edinburgh's iconic Royal Mile, it's an ideal stop for those exploring the city. After a day of sightseeing, there's nothing quite like sitting down to a delicious meal at Scotts Kitchen to recharge before continuing your adventures.
Scotts Kitchen has earned a reputation for offering excellent food and a warm, welcoming environment. With its diverse menu, outstanding service, and prime location, it's easy to see why this spot has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Whether you're in the mood for a classic Scottish dish or something a bit more contemporary, Scotts Kitchen is a fantastic place to enjoy a meal that truly captures the essence of Edinburgh's culinary scene.

This was an incredible surprise. You would think that a restaurant this close to big attractions that would be a tourist trap but its amazing. The food is incredible good and the staff is very friendly. A special shout out to Mel which was our server and very lovely and kind! (Hopefully we can meet again in Portugal )
I recently dined at this restaurant and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The service was exceptional, every staff member I interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to make sure everything was perfect. The food was also impressive. Each dish was prepared with care.
It's a very atmospheric restaurant. We came here on a sunny day. The sunlight streamed into the restaurant, making it extremely beautiful. My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch here. I highly recommend it to everyone. The food is generally very delicious. However, for me personally, one of the lamb dishes I ordered was a bit too heavy. It would be even better if it were paired with some refreshing vegetables. Overall, it was a very good dining experience!
Adorable inside, with Christmas decorations! I really enjoyed the latte. I had a full Scottish breakfast and was really looking forward to the potato scone. However, theirs was not the best. All other food was delicious!
